The 10 most beautiful alpine climbing routes in the canton of Uri

Alpine Climbing · Glarus Alps
Gross Schijen (2,786 m) "South Pillar" VII+ (eKN VII+)
Premium content Difficulty VII+6b+T3 difficult
3.8 km
5:20 h
189 m
189 m
For six pitches, there are very rarely five stars. But right from the first meters, there is plenty of atmosphere.
Alpine Climbing · Glarus Alps
Tüfelstalwand (1,970 m) SW wall "Sign of Friendship" VII (eKN VII+)
Premium content Difficulty VII6bT6 difficult
5.5 km
6:30 h
550 m
550 m
You should know what you're getting into here! The adventure starts already on the approach with the navigation. But, quite in contrast to the "Pissoir," world-class climbing can be expected in the "Sign of Friendship."
Alpine Climbing · Glarus Alps
Tüfelstal wall (1,970 m) SW wall "Pissoir du Diable" VIII– (eKN VIII–)
Premium content Difficulty VIII-6c+T6 difficult
5.5 km
7:30 h
549 m
549 m
You should know what you are getting into here! The adventure already starts at the approach with route-finding. The undertaking cannot be meaningfully assigned to any category. Sport climbers are actually out of place here, and "alpinists" need an all-around high level and corresponding experience in dealing with such routes.
Alpine Climbing · Uri Alps
Feldschijn (2,828 m) "W-Ridge" VII (UIAA VI+)
Premium content Difficulty VII6bT6 difficult
8.5 km
10:00 h
1,042 m
1,042 m
I climbed this magnificent route a second time after almost 20 years with much more experience. That says something, as the approach is long and sweaty. Due to a rockfall, it ends over very unpleasant scree, which is also unpleasant on the descent. All in all, this undertaking requires above-average fitness. The climbing itself is pure enjoyment.

An old, now partly renovated "classic" from the 80s, reflected in the ratings and protection. Earlier it was somewhat "homogenized" here. Overall a nice, entertaining activity for arrival or departure days or for uncertain weather.

Premium content Difficulty VII+6b+T5 difficult
6.7 km
7:30 h

"Varinia" – the versatile – a beautiful and apt name. Slabby sections alternate with short crack passages and appealing wall climbing. Unfortunately, the first ascenders favored some difficult sections especially in the lower part. But beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
Alpine Climbing · Uri Alps
Winterstock (2,904 m) SE face "Schwoabawäg" VII– (eKN VII–)
Premium content Difficulty VII-6a+T5 difficult
6.7 km
7:30 h
525 m
516 m
On the "Schwoabawäg" the first ascentionists did the Swabians proud by being sparing with fixed gear.

Premium content Difficulty VII-6a+T5 difficult
6.7 km

Contrary to the slabby "Goldmarie," in the "Mangolyto" one mostly climbs on structured granite, and short athletic passages are also not missing.

Schöne Kletterei. Gut abgesichert.
