In Sysmä close vicinity you´ll find four valuable lake- and wetland areas for birds.  Those ares form so called Sysmä Natura 2000 area.

Olavi Virta, an ordinary boy was born in Sysmä, Finland on the 27th of Fabruary 1915. He became a world famous tango singer of all times.  The relief is situated in the little village where he was born.

The earliest information of Sysmä's church is from 1398. The Gothic style church was built from grey stone and burnt brick and originally had a rectangular form.

Sysmä market place is called a "Good people´s market place".

The ice skating rink allows you to skate and play ice hockey, even when the weather would otherwise not allow it.
