Accessible holidays in the Emmental

The path from Burgdorf to Hasle-Rüegsau runs entirely along the Emme. The hike is also one of the barrier-free routes specially marked by Schweiz Mobil ('Obstacle-Free Paths').

This hike always follows the Emme – from Kirchberg, with its beautiful church, to Utzenstorf and Landshut Castle, a water castle surrounded by a spacious park.

This pleasant riverside walk along the Emme is easy and suitable for everyone. The Emme riverside path is barrier-free and also accessible with prams, wheelchairs, and walkers.

Burgdorf, the "Gateway to the Emmental," is worth more than a day trip. There are beautiful spots along the Emme, the castle, the charming old town, and several museums.

Impressive castles, exciting anecdotes from past times and valuable time in nature: This route makes the hiking heart beat faster. It connects Landshut Castle with Burgdorf Castle and follows the bank of the Emme river. This beautiful hike is suitable for all performance levels – even with a stroller, the two castles in Burgdorf and Landshut can be connected by walking.

Thanks to its central location, the city has excellent train connections in all directions. Via Bern, it goes towards Spiez – and further into the Kander and Simmental valleys.
