Villa Buffa

Austro-Hungarian officials occupied the building and the courtyard provided room for distraction. After the night battle, it became a burial place for the Austro-Hungarian and the Italian soldiers. At the end of the war, when the bodies were exhumed, they discovered that Italians were buried in a mass grave, while Austrian officials were buried supine and wrapped in carpets taken from the palace.
