The most beautiful viewpoint in Stainz

One of the most beautiful viewpoints in Stainz is located at Stainz Castle itself. From there, you have a spectacular view over the entire valley to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps in the background. This spot is perfect for a picnic or simply to relax after a hike.

Another popular spot is the Hochlantsch, which is also easy to reach and offers a magnificent panoramic view. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the distant Karawanken mountains!

Hikes to the viewpoints in Stainz

There are numerous hiking routes around Stainz that will take you directly to these fascinating viewpoints. A recommended tour leads from the town center up to the Gösting ruins - this trail rewards you with several panoramic views along the way as well as a magnificent view of the Styrian hills.

For the more adventurous, we recommend the hike to the Hochlantsch: at around 1,800 meters above sea level, you can expect an incomparable view over mountains and valleys as well as a variety of alpine plant species along the way. The high-altitude trail "Wanderparadies Schöckl" also leads through dense forests past small streams up to the Schöckl summit - here, too, you will be spoiled with impressive views!

• Stainz Castle is now home to an interesting hunting museum, enriched by its historic architecture; the adjacent open-air museum showcases regional craftsmanship from times gone by.
