The Hagberg tower not only offers a wonderful panoramic view. It is also an architecturally attractive structure.

The Volkmarsberg tower, built in 1930, stands on a flat hilltop above Oberkochen in the middle of a beautiful juniper heath. Next to the tower is a restaurant run by the Oberkochen local group for a cozy stop-off.

From the existing Grubenholz recreational area, the Albtrauf, the Rems Valley and the “Drei Kaiserberge” can be seen from afar. Starting at Kolbenberg, the view sweeps over the Essingen forests to the source of the Rems, to Lautern and Lauterburg, across the Rems valley to Stuifen, Rechberg and finally to Hohenstaufen. If you climb the viewing tower at the edge of the forest, the enjoyment of this magnificent landscape is enhanced even further. 29 steps lead up to the viewing platform and information boards provide local history.
