Lake Burano is a coastal brackish pond located in the Tuscan Maremma, in the municipality of Capalbio, in the province of Grosseto. It is a protected area of great naturalistic value managed by the WWF as an oasis since 1977. It is separated from the sea by a sandy dune, covered by Mediterranean scrub, which is home to numerous species of plants and animals. The lake is also a paradise for birdwatchers, as more than 300 species of birds live here. The lake is only accessible through guided walks organised by the WWF.
