    The parts by the river are lovely with a lot of other people walking. Beware of the forest part, this is where most of the elevation is and the gradient is high. Great view of Bormio towards the end. I fully recommend !

    Percorso stupendo e interessante dal punto di vista storico e naturalistico. Affascinante ripercorrere quei luoghi così pieni di sofferenza e storia. Noi abbiamo evitato di salire sul Monte Scorluzzo per evitare la salita esposta e a tratti con catene (avevamo bimbo nello zainetto) però fattibilissimo facendo la variante scendendo dalla cresta verso lo Stelvio.

Segnalo però non essere di difficoltà “media” ma “difficile” (l’ultimo pezzo per raggiungere il monte scorluzzo è ripido e bisogna aiutarsi con le corde) e il punto di partenza indicato non è assolutamente corretto.     Wir sind den Ortler Höhenweg wie beschrieben gelaufen, unser Startpunkt war allerdings nicht das Stilfser Joch, sondern ein Wanderparkplatz kurz hinter Bormio. Dadurch konnten wir am Anreisetag noch einen halben Tag wandern und auch am Abreisetag noch ein paar Stündchen laufen, bevor es auf die lange Heimreisen geht. Die Landschaft ist grandios, wir hatten immer wieder tolle Blicke auf die grandiose Bergwelt rund um den Ortler mit seinen und großen Nachbarn. Die Tagesetappen sind teilweise lang und anspruchsvoll was Länge und Höhenmeter anbelangt, jedoch technisch überwiegend nicht schwer, kein Vergleich zu Höhenwegen wie beispielsweise dem Stubaier Höhenweg. Der Weg über den Gletscher ist aus meiner Sicht nur mit entsprechender Kenntnis oder einem Bergführer zu bewältigen. Der Aufstieg vom Eisseepasszur Cassati-Hütte wäre sicherlich ein Highlight gewesen, wenn wir außer Schnee, Regen und Hagel was gesehen hätten. Unser Highlight war der Weg zur Zufallhütte, auf der wir das Glück hatten am höchsten Punkt auf mehrere Steinböcke zu treffen.

    Top Tour! Empfehlenswert für alle, die dem großen Ansturm über Normalweg oder Hintergrat entgehen wollen. Es handelt sich hier aber NICHT um eine einfache Alternative zu den beiden anderen Anstiegen! Der Meraner Weg ist mitnichten ein Weg, sondern steile, ausgesetzte Kraxelei durch anspruchsvolles, brüchiges und teils steinschlaggefährdetes Gelände. Zudem besitzt dieser Aufstieg 800 Höhenmeter mehr (gesamt 1700m!) als der Normalweg bzw. 400m mehr als der Hintergrat. Da man danach noch den Normalweg absteigen muss, was noch einmal 4-5h sehr anspruchsvolles und forderndes Gehen bzw Gekraxel bedeutet, ist der Meraner Weg nur etwas für absolut Konditionsstarke und Trittsichere. Wir fanden an einem Samstag Mitte August sehr gute Konditionen vor und waren dank der längeren Dauer des Aufstiegs die einzigen am Gipfel. Das 40 Grad-Stück am Gletscherbeginn auf ca. 3400m war gerade noch machbar. Es lässt sich eventuell umgehen, indem man weiter rechterhand am Gletscherrand ca. 50-100hm durchs Geröll aufsteigt in Richtung der Militärbaracke, die bereits von unten sichtbar ist. Von oben sahen wir eine Aufstiegsspur, die von dort aus über den Gletscher führte.
