Maps and trails

The Königssee is located in the southeast of Germany in the Berchtesgadener Land region, near the Austrian border. With its picturesque location between the Alps, it is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the country.

Touristically Relevant Attractions

A main attraction at the Königssee is the famous pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomew on the Hirschau peninsula. The church dates back to the 12th century and attracts visitors with its beautiful architecture.

A boat trip across the lake is also an absolute must. The electric boats take you to various docking points along the shore, including the Saletalm at the end of the lake.

Cultural Highlights and Events

Regular concerts are held in the collegiate church, where visitors can enjoy classical music.

Culinary Specialties

The Berchtesgadener Land is known for delicious regional cuisine. Be sure to try the traditional Bavarian snack with freshly baked bread, sausage, and cheese. The famous Berchtesgadener mountain cheese is also an absolute highlight.

Outdoor Activities

The Königssee offers a variety of outdoor activities for nature lovers. Take a hike along the shore or climb the surrounding mountains for a breathtaking view of the lake.

Fishing is also allowed, but only to a limited extent and subject to certain regulations.

Geniale Route. Aktuell allerdings quasi keine Möglichkeit Wasser in der Wand aufzufüllen, deshalb genügend mitnehmen.
