Tokushima Prefecture, which is easily accessible by car from the Kansai region, is largely divided into the eastern, western, and southern parts. The eastern part includes Tokushima City, the prefectural capital, and Naruto City, famous for its whirlpools. The Naruto whirlpools, one of the world's three major tidal currents, are a powerful natural phenomenon created by the violent currents. In the south, the coastline faces the Pacific Ocean, where marine activities and fresh seafood can be enjoyed. To the west is the Iya region, one of Japan's three most unexplored regions. Although the region is particularly rich in nature, there are also transportation systems that allow visitors to efficiently visit the many sightseeing spots scattered throughout the region. Mt. Kenzan, the second highest mountain in western Japan, is also located in the western part of the region.
