Shizuoka is bordered by the vast Southern Alps to the north and Suruga Bay and the Sea of Enshu to the south. When one hears the word "Shizuoka," the first thing that comes to mind is Mt. Fuji, which stretches from sea level to its summit, can be seen from every spot in Shizuoka Prefecture, including Miho no Matsubara and Mt.
Shizuoka also has other tourist attractions such as the World Heritage Site of the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace, the Izu Peninsula Geopark (one of the World Geoparks), the Atami Hot Springs, Mishima Taisha Shrine, and Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine, which attract many tourists every year.

富士山の西麓に位置する湖で、湖越しの富士山の眺めが大変美しい。湖岸には湖を一周する遊歩道も整備されている。
高さ20m・幅150mの湾曲した絶壁から、大小数百の滝が流れ落ちており、その優美な姿が幾筋もの絹糸を垂らしているようで、白糸という滝の前にふさわしい。
