Floating in the crystal clear waters, the islands of Nagasaki are a pristine wilderness. The number of islands in Nagasaki is the largest in Japan, numbering as many as 594. The islands are close to Korea and mainland China and have developed through trade and exchange since ancient times, and Christianity eventually spread to Nagasaki along with the trade of the southern barbarians. The Oura Tenshudo and other heritage sites are registered as World Heritage sites as evidence of the continuation of the faith of the Christian missionaries who continued their faith while coexisting with Japan's traditional religion and society.
In the Unzen area, the prefecture's representative hot spring, Unzen Onsen, and a visit to Unzen Jigoku (Hell), where you can enjoy the smell of sulfur and the fumes that emanate from everywhere, are popular.
