Gunma is characterized by its varied nature, ranging from plains to mountains. Oze, a favorite destination for hikers, is also part of this. The three mountains of Jomo (Mt. Akagi, Mt. Haruna, and Mt. Myogi) can be seen from the city center and are well known as the hometown mountains of the people of the prefecture. The Tone River, also known as "Bando Taro," runs from north to south through the central part of the prefecture, and rafting and mountain stream fishing are popular.
