Fukui

There is a phrase that describes Fukui: "Echiyama Wakamizu. The meaning is "the beauty of the lush green mountains of the Echizen region (Koshiyama) and the mountain streams and water flowing into Wakasa Bay (Wakamizu)." Fukui is such a beautiful place blessed with nature that such a phrase can be spun. Tojinbo and Mikata Goko (Five Lakes of Mikata) are famous for their spectacular views, but the sea of clouds at Echizen Ono Castle and the ruins of the Ichijodani Asakura clan, which still preserve ruins from the Warring States period, are also not to be missed. A stroll around Fukui Station, with its Yohkokan Garden and History Museum, and Tsuruga, where the Kibi Jingu Shrine is the symbol of the town, are also recommended, as they offer a concentrated selection of attractions.
