Oita Prefecture, which claims to be "Japan's No. 1 Onsen Prefecture Oita," boasts the largest number of hot springs and the largest amount of hot springs in Japan. The northern part of the prefecture is home to the scenic Yabakei Gorge and Usa Jingu Shrine, the headquarters of Hachiman Shrine. The central part of the prefecture is home to the nationally famous Yufuin and Beppu Jigoku, which attract many tourists. Harajiri Waterfall in the south is one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan, and its powerful appearance can be seen up close. The Usuki Stone Buddha, a national treasure, is highly regarded for its quality, scale, and quantity.
At the foot of Kujyu Mountain Range, there are abundant nature and hot springs, which can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons, such as Miyama-kirishima in early summer and colored leaves in autumn.
