A very popular hike, especially in season, when the refugio is open. The first half of the way up in a beautiful forest, deep in the gorge, near the river. The second half is quite exposed to the sun, so can be quite hot on a hot day. The lake and the refugio are beautiful, especially early in the season when the lake is still half frozen. We did this walk three times and saw deer in two of the times.
