We did that track in march. The track was full of ice but using the crampons it was easy to get to the top of the mountain. We decided to do also the loop around the peak (track 528a) which was a big mistake! Until the mountain lodge Smarano it was super easy, but from there to get back to track 500 it was a nightmare. Hip deep snow and we really struggled! It took us almost 2 hours for 2km. We are in quite good shape and that was the only reason we were able to get out of there. Definitely to avoid in march! Especially if you are not in good physical condition.

In reality I started from the Campi da Golf car park that which at Malga Romeno lengthens the route by about 3 hours with 450 m of altitude difference (uphill and equally downhill). For the rest, the via ferrata is a good exercise for beginners and the Path of the Chamois is a little more treacherous even if still enjoyable. The transfer between the mountain pines from Monte Roen to Testa Nera is priceless. I was actually in the sun all the way, resulting in a general redness of my face and arms.

Tolle Tour. Auf dem Monte Roen kann eine wunderbare Rundumsicht genossen werden. Der Klettersteig sollte nur mit Ausrüstung (Helm etc.) genutzt werden. In anderen Wanderführern ist diese Strecke schwarz = schwer gekennzeichnet.
