There are numerous opportunities for paddlers to take to the water along the rivers. The landscape of the Nyírség, with its windbreaks and parabolic bends, stands out from the floodplains. The region is home to the country's first National Park, the famous Hortobágy. The Northern Great Plain boasts two historically significant regions, Jászság and Hajdúság.
