Central Hungary

Attractions in Central Hungary

Three large areas in the North-Hungarian-Middle Mountains between the Great Plain and the TransdanubianThe Central Hungary region lies at the junction of the Alps and the Danube.

Active rowing is possible between the islands of the Danube. While paddling, you can admire the Börzsöny, so often travelled by boots, the Visegrád Hills and the high peaks of the Danube Mountains.

To the south of the capital, you can cycle in the Alföld landscape between quicksand hummocks or along the banks of the Danube. And in Budapest, it's easy to find tours in return, as the Buda Hills are within the city limits.

The Börzsöny to the Pilis and the Gödöllő hills have excellent public transport links, so these mountains are perhaps a favourite hiking destination for many.
