Welver

Geographically, Welver is located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, about 25 kilometres south of Münster and only a few kilometres west of the city of Hamm. The region is known for its rolling hills, green meadows and fields, and the many small rivers and streams that meander through the countryside.

One of Welver's main attractions is undoubtedly Neuhaus Castle. The impressive Renaissance building from the 16th century now houses a museum on the history of the town as well as a beautiful park for walking or picnicking.

Another cultural highlight is the annual castle concerts in summer as well as the traditional Christmas market spectacle on the castle square in December.

Those who like to be active will also find what they are looking for in Welver: The region is ideal for hiking or cycling - the routes along the river Ahse or through the nearby Haarstrang forest are particularly recommended.

Welver also has a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights: Be sure to try the famous "Welverschinken", a regional speciality made from smoked pork - best enjoyed over a cosy dinner in one of the local inns.

And if the weather should not cooperate? No problem - Welver also offers numerous indoor activities such as the "Westphalian Salt Worlds" museum or the climbing park at Neuhaus Castle.
