Geographical location and special features: Weißendorf is located in the district of Greiz in Thuringia and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The town lies on the Weisse Elster, a river that flows through the region and offers many recreational opportunities. With its rich history and culture, Weißendorf has much to offer.

Tourist attractions: One of the most important sights of Weißendorf is the 17th century Blankenhain Castle with its impressive baroque garden. Another highlight is the 12th century church of St. Peter and Paul with its beautiful Gothic architecture.

Cultural highlights and events: Every year, Weißendorf hosts numerous cultural events such as the castle festival or the historic market on the first weekend in September, where you can listen to traditional music as well as sample regional specialities.

Culinary specialities: The cuisine of Thuringia is known for its hearty dishes such as bratwurst, dumplings or roulades as well as delicious desserts such as apple pie or egg liqueur tart - all of which you can also enjoy in Weißendorf's restaurants!

Outdoor activities: If you like to be active, then you will love the many possibilities: Hiking on the nearby hills, cycling along the White Elster or paddling on the river. In winter you can even go skiing in the surrounding mountains.

Best seasons and places for outdoor activities: The best time for hiking is in spring and autumn, when the temperatures are pleasant and the landscape looks particularly beautiful. The Weiße Elster also offers welcome cooling on hot days in summer. In winter, the best place to go skiing is in the nearby ski resorts such as Oberhof or Schmiedefeld.

What to do in Weißendorf when it rains? There are plenty of things to do even if the weather is bad: Visit the museum in the town of Greiz or take a trip to Gera, where there are many interesting museums. Or simply relax in a cosy café with a cup of coffee and a piece of apple strudel!

Where is it most beautiful in Weißendorf? A walk through the baroque garden of Blankenhain Castle is particularly recommended - here you will find peace and relaxation far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Weißendorf, Greiz - definitely worth a trip!
