Waabs

Geographically, Waabs is a coastal town with a picturesque landscape of forests, lakes and beaches. The area is known for its breathtaking natural scenery as well as the many opportunities for hiking, cycling or water sports.

Topically relevant sights include Gottorf Castle in Schleswig or the Molfsee open-air museum. Here you can learn more about the history of this region and get an insight into traditional craftsmanship.

Cultural highlights are also part of the offer: In Eckernförde, for example, there are regular concerts and theatre performances to see. In summer there are also numerous festivals such as the jazz festival on the beach at Laboe or the Viking festival at Haithabu.

But culinary delights are not neglected either - here you can expect fresh fish straight from the harbour as well as regional specialities such as kale with pinkel or labskaus.

The best outdoor activities can be enjoyed especially in spring, summer and autumn - whether sailing on the sea or hiking through the hilly landscape around Waabs. Bicycle tours along the coast are also a good option.

If it ever rains, we recommend an excursion to the Museum Kunst der Westküste (Art of the West Coast) in Alkersum or to the Schifffahrtsmuseum (Maritime Museum) in Flensburg. Here you can experience art and history up close.

Where is the most beautiful? That certainly depends on your preferences, but we recommend a walk along the beach at sunset - an unforgettable experience!
