Ürzig

The region is known for its excellent wines, especially Riesling. A wine tasting at a local vintner should therefore be on your list. Here you can enjoy the different flavours of the wine and learn more about how it is made.

Besides the wine, there are many other tourist attractions to discover. Visit Lieser Castle or take a walk through the historic old town of Bernkastel-Kues with its 17th century half-timbered houses.

For cultural highlights, we recommend the annual wine festival in September or the medieval festival in July, where you feel transported back to times gone by.

If you like to be active, then you have plenty of options to choose from here: Hiking through the vineyards, cycling along the Moselle or canoeing on the river - everything is possible! The best season for this is spring to autumn.

This region also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine: Try local specialities like Saumagen (a kind of Palatinate liver dumpling) or Zwiebelkuchen (onion tart) - both go perfectly with the local wine!

Even if it rains, there are enough activities to make your stay enjoyable: visit museums such as the Moselle Wine Museum or relax in one of the many thermal baths.

Where is the most beautiful? That's hard to say, as every season here has its own charms. In spring the vineyards are in bloom and in autumn they shine in golden colours - but this region also has its charm in winter!
