Discover the region
Treben's most famous sight is undoubtedly Tannenfeld Castle. The baroque building from the 18th century now houses an art exhibition as well as a restaurant and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding park.
Treben also has a lot to offer culturally: In summer, concerts are regularly held in the local culture house, where you can experience regional musicians. There are also several museums in the area, such as the Skat Museum in Altenburg or the Mauritianum Natural History Museum in Altenburg.
Those who like good food will not be disappointed either: Hearty dishes are particularly popular in the region, such as potato soup with bockwurst or grilled Thuringian grilled sausage. Sweet treats such as egg pancakes with apple sauce are also a must on the menu.
Spring is a particularly good time for outdoor activities: Then the fruit trees around Treben blossom and invite you to take long walks. In summer, on the other hand, you can cool off in the nearby open-air swimming pool or take a canoe trip on the White Elster. In autumn, hikes through the colourful forests are particularly appealing, while in winter, sleigh rides and snow hikes provide plenty of variety.
Even if the weather doesn't play along, there is plenty to do in Treben: The Kulturhaus regularly offers events such as theatre performances or readings. Those who prefer a cosy atmosphere can also simply spend a day in one of the local cafés and relax with a cup of coffee.
All in all, Treben is definitely worth a visit - whether you are looking for peace and quiet or want to be active. The small town has a lot of charm and is best discovered by yourself. However, a good guidebook with lots of tips and information should definitely be included!
