Thaden

Geographically, Thaden lies between the Kiel Canal and the Baltic Sea coast. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills, meadows and fields as well as picturesque lakes and rivers. Particularly impressive are the numerous wind turbines that shape the image of the region.

One of the most important sights in Thaden is Emkendorf Castle from the 16th century with its beautiful baroque garden. The Molfsee open-air museum also offers an insight into the life of times gone by.

Cultural highlights are also plentiful: The annual town festival attracts thousands of visitors and offers a diverse programme of music, dance and culinary delights. In summer, there are regular open-air concerts.

For gourmets, Thaden also has a lot to offer: Be sure to try the famous Holstein kale or visit one of the many farm cafés for fresh regional cuisine.

Outdoor activities are very popular with tourists: whether cycling on well-developed routes through idyllic villages or hiking through the Westensee Nature Park - everyone gets their money's worth here! In winter you can even go skiing on the Bungsberg - the highest mountain in Schleswig-Holstein.
