    Wir sind die Route gewandert bei herrlichem Sonnenschein! Es war sehr schön. Schade nur, dass der Gasthof nicht mehr im Betrieb ist. Es ist Selbstversorgung angesagt. Wichtig zu wissen. Es ist Anfang August und Steinach ist fern vom Tourismus. Wir hatten den Weg fast für uns allein.

    Interessante Wanderung mit Entdeckungspotential und leider hohem Forstwegeanteil. Gute "Öffi-Tour", da bei schlechtem Wetter oder Motivations-Mangel meist ein Bahnhof nicht zu weit weg ist. Ich habe die Tour ab Steinach gemacht und für mich in kleinen Teilen angepasst, so wird zB. die Kuppe des Kieferle, der Triftweiher Wächtersteich, das Viadukt Finsterer Grund, etc. mitgenommen.     Steiler Anstieg wird belohnt mit abwechslungsreicher Tour. Da die Bike-Arena Silbersattel geschlossen ist, war ich alleine auf weiter Flur und konnte absolute Stille geniesen. Im Bereich des Fellbergs hat der Wald leider ziemlich gelitten, aber das hat im Sommer durchaus seinen Charme. Der Weg verläuft größtenteils über schmale Wurzelpfade. Daher unbedingt Wanderschuhe tragen! Den kurzen Abstecher zum Leierlochfelsen kann ich nicht empfehlen. Hier liegen überall Baumstämme und Geäst.

    Beschilderung war recht gut nur in den Orten hat das ein oder andere gefehlt aber mit GPS kein Problem. Das Stück über die Skiepiste sollte man in Zukunft ändern und nicht mehr als Wanderweg benutzen, da die Wege von Entgegenkommenden Dreirädern benutzt werden, die mit Hohentempo um die Kurven geschossen kommen. Ein getrennter Weg wäre besser. Das letzte Stück besteht der Weg aus Steinen die so groß sind wie Babyköpfe. Deshalb auch die Schwierigkeit Schwer. Es waren am Schluss 39 km. Ansonsten war es sehr schön. 9h braucht man aber schon

    Absolute Empfehlung. Die Strecke ist um Welten besser, als vorher gedacht. Jede Ecke im Thüringer Wald wird abgefahren. Es geht ständig auf und ab, in neue Täler, über Wiesen und Wälder, vorbei an Quellen und Flüssen. Rechts und Links vom Weg gibt es jede Menge Sehenswürdigkeiten, Aussichtspunkte, Badewasser etc. Wenn man also die Strecke hin und wieder verlässt, kann man viel davon mitnehmen. Die Wegbeschaffenheit ist durchweg gut. Meist fährt man auf breiteren Waldwegen, selten auf Straßen, außer, wenn es durch Ortschaften geht. Wir hatten uns am Anfang Gedanken über die Wegfindung gemacht, doch die Strecke ist komplett ausgeschildert von Anfang bis Ende. Die Schilder sitzen immer gut ersichtlich. Einzig in Bayern gibt es eine andere Beschilderung, die ohne Vorwarnung wechselt. Das Schild ist dort viel kleiner und mit einem Zusatz versehen. Eine gelbe 1 auf weißem Hintergrund. Wenn das dann verstanden ist, findet man sich aber auch damit zurecht. Wir sind die Strecke in 6 Etappen gefahren. Das war eigentlich sehr angenehm. Abends haben wir oft eine Hütte oder überdachte Bank gefunden mit Wasser in Reichweite. Einkaufen kann man auch immer wieder in den größeren Ortschaften. Vielen Dank für die gut ausgewählte Strecke. Es hat riesig Spaß gemacht!
