Discover the region

Geographically, the town lies between the rivers Schwalm and Efze and at the foot of the foothills of the Knüll Mountains. The landscape is characterised by meadows, fields and forests - ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling.

The historic old town of Schwalmstadt invites you to take a leisurely stroll. Here you will find numerous half-timbered houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, including the town hall with its striking tower and the town church of St. Martin.

Another highlight is the Museum der Schwalm, which offers insights into regional cultural history. Art lovers will also get their money's worth: The Alte Mühle gallery regularly presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art.

If you want to indulge in culinary delights, you should definitely make a detour to the restaurant "Zum Stern" - here you can enjoy traditional Hessian cuisine at its best.

In the summer months, the open-air swimming pool on Ziegenhainer Straße invites you to swim and sunbathe. In winter, you can alternatively have fun with a round of curling or go swimming in the indoor pool.

For nature lovers, a hike through the nearby Kellerwald-Edersee National Park or along the Schwalm Cycle Path, which leads through the picturesque landscape, is recommended.

Overall, Schwalmstadt is a versatile destination for anyone who longs for rest and relaxation. Whether the weather is fine or rainy, there is always something to discover and experience here. A real insider tip in the heart of Germany!

Achtung!
