Geographically, Schongau is located in Bavaria and is part of the Weilheim-Schongau district. The town is located about 60 kilometres southwest of Munich and is a popular destination for tourists due to its natural beauty and historical significance.

Tourist attractions include the old town with its well-preserved medieval buildings and the Hohenfreyberg and Eisenberg castles, which are perched high above the Lech valley. Cultural highlights include the annual town festival "Schongauer Märchenwoche" (Schongau Fairy Tale Week) as well as various concerts and theatre performances in the atmospheric theatre hall of the former Rottenbuch Monastery.

Culinary specialities can also be discovered: Be sure to try the famous Bavarian roast pork or enjoy a fresh Obatzda with pretzels (white bread). Regional beers such as Augustiner or Tegernseer should also be on your list!

For outdoor activities, the surroundings of Schongau are ideal: Hike through idyllic meadows and forests or explore the nearby lakes Ammersee or Staffelsee by bike or boat. In winter, the nearby ski resorts, such as Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau, are a lure.

Even when the weather is bad, there is plenty to discover in Schongau: Visit the "Torhaus" town museum or take a guided tour of the historic old town. Alternatively, you can relax in the thermal baths in Bad Bayersoien or take a trip to Munich.

Where is it most beautiful in Schongau? A special place is the lookout point on the Hohenpeißenberg, which offers a breathtaking panorama over the Alps. The picturesque market square in the heart of Schongau also invites you to linger.

In summary, Schongau, Weilheim-Schongau is definitely worth a visit! Whether cultural highlights, culinary discoveries or outdoor activities - everyone will find something to suit their taste here. With this travel guide you are well prepared for your next visit!

Bio-Radler also drauf einstellen.

Hier mein kleines Video dazu. Mehr auf www.100seconds.de
