The geographical location of Schmitt, Cochem-Zell is unique. The region lies at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers and is characterised by its picturesque vineyards. Here you can experience nature up close and enjoy impressive views.

One of the most famous sights in Schmitt, Cochem-Zell is undoubtedly Eltz Castle. This medieval castle sits majestically on a hill above the valley of the Elzbach river. Another highlight for those interested in culture are the numerous historic towns such as Cochem or Zell an der Mosel.

Schmitt, Cochem-Zell also has much to offer in the way of culinary delights: Be sure to try the famous Riesling wine from this region as well as local specialities such as Saumagen (a type of Palatinate liver dumpling) or Handkäse mit Musik (a sour cheese served with onions).

For outdoor activities, there are also plenty of options here: Hike along the famous Moselsteig trail or explore the surroundings by bike. In winter, the nearby Erbeskopf ski area attracts winter sports enthusiasts.

And what to do in bad weather? Why not visit one of the many museums, such as the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Trier or the Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Koblenz.

Where is the most beautiful? That depends on your personal preferences, of course. But a visit to the picturesque town of Cochem with its imposing Reichsburg castle and historic market square is definitely recommended.

Overall, Schmitt, Cochem-Zell offers a wealth of possibilities for an unforgettable holiday. This guide will help you plan your trip and give you the best tips for your adventure - enjoy!

Wochenend-Etappen in drei Jahren.
