The most important sights are Burgk Castle, an impressive fortress from the 12th century with a spectacular view of the surrounding area, and the "Alte Mühle" museum, which gives an insight into the life of people in the region during the 19th century.

For cultural highlights, we recommend a visit to the theatre or a concert in the cultural centre of Schleiz. In addition, various events take place every year, such as the town festival or the Christmas market.

Culinarily, the region offers numerous specialities such as Thuringian bratwurst and regional beer, which you should definitely try.

Outdoor activities can be enjoyed here at any time of year: In summer, hikes through the forests and along the river are inviting; in winter, you can go skiing or ice skating at the nearby ice rink. The most beautiful area is certainly located around the Bleiloch reservoir - a paradise for water sports enthusiasts!

But what to do in bad weather? Don't worry! There are plenty of indoor activities such as visiting museums or going swimming in Schleiz's indoor pool.

Summarising, the Saale-Orla district is definitely worth a visit and Schleiz is a perfect destination for nature lovers, culture vultures and outdoor enthusiasts alike. We hope this Travel Guide has helped you plan your trip!
