Nature and culture in Saxony-Anhalt
Natural landscapes, biosphere reserves and national parks in Saxony-Anhalt make it possible to experience nature in a variety of ways. But the five travel regions, the Altmark, Elbe-Börde-Heide, the Harz, the World Heritage region of Anhalt-Dessau-Wittenberg and Saale-Unstrut offer much more: in addition to the opportunity to experience tranquillity and solitude, there are cultural highlights to marvel at.
Particularly worth seeing are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, of which Saxony-Anhalt has the highest density, for example the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz, the Bauhaus in Dessau or the Luther towns of Wittenberg and Eisleben as well as the old town of Quedlinburg.
Refreshing canoe tour on the Saale
For families and water sports enthusiasts and all those who need to cool off in summer, there is an idyllic canoe tour from Camburg to Halle, which runs along the Blue Ribbon in several stages. There are plenty of historic castles and beautiful places to discover along the way.
Elbe, Unstrut and Saale - enough riverside cycle tours for everyone
On hot days, there's nothing better than a tour along the water. Saxony-Anhalt is the ideal destination for the summer, as it offers plenty of riverside cycle tours. The wind blows cooler here and there are beautiful landscapes and places to explore. Whether it's the Elbe, Unstrut or Saale - there's enough water for everyone.
The Harz Mountains and the Brocken
The Harz Mountains, which extend across three federal states, are also represented in Saxony-Anhalt. The highest mountain in northern Germany is located here: the 1141m high Brocken. The low mountain range is particularly popular with hikers, as it is just as suitable for leisurely walks with the family as it is for long, challenging hikes. The nature park is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Mountain bikers also get their money's worth. Varied trails lead for miles over mountains and through forests. Beginners and pros alike can let off steam in the bike parks.

Experience Saxony-Anhalt's diverse regions
Culture enthusiasts in particular can discover Saxony-Anhalt on the Romanesque Road. Depending on the building, there are always events along the way that bring visitors even closer to the Middle Ages with its art and culture. The route is divided into a northern and a southern route, which meet in Magdeburg.
The Romanesque route leads to cultural sites of the "Road of Romanesque" in Saxony-Anhalt, which belongs to the European cultural route TRANSROMANICA.
The Anhalt-Dessau-Wittenberg region is particularly worth a visit for anyone who wants to experience culture and history. There are four UNESCO World Heritage Sites to marvel at here: Lutherstadt Wittenberg, the Bauhaus in Dessau, the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz and the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve.
Saale-Unstrut, Germany's northernmost wine-growing region, is particularly rich in culinary delights. Wine lovers can enjoy themselves to the full here! The historic town of Naumburg, with its world-famous cathedral as a landmark, is also located in this region.
If you want to visit the state capital of Magdeburg, head to the Elbe-Börde Heath. Bernburg Castle and Magdeburg Cathedral are particularly popular destinations here.
