Geographically, Rosa lies between the Rhön and Thuringian Forest mountains. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills and picturesque river valleys. Particularly beautiful are the vantage points on the Rennsteig as well as the view from the Inselsberg.

Touristically relevant are above all the numerous sights in the region. One highlight is certainly Wilhelmsburg Castle in Schmalkalden with its impressive Renaissance architecture. The half-timbered town of Meiningen also attracts visitors with its historic buildings such as the Meiningen Theatre or the English Garden.
