Discover the region

Welcome to idyllic Ringelai, a small town in the district of Freyung-Grafenau in Germany. The location of the village is characterised by its proximity to the Bavarian Forest National Park and the courses of the Ilz and Saußbach rivers. This geographical feature makes Ringelai a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Touristically relevant sights are above all the historic castle ruins with their impressive view of the valley as well as the parish church of St. Nikolaus, which is considered one of the oldest churches in Bavaria. Cultural highlights are offered during a guided tour through the local museum or during a concert at the local music school.

The numerous events, such as the traditional folk festival "Ringelaier Wiesn" or the annual wine festival at the market square, are also highly recommended.

Culinary Ringelai also has a lot to offer: From regional delicacies to international cuisine, you will find everything your heart desires here. The Bavarian snack platter with fresh beer from one of the many breweries in the area is highly recommended.

If you like to be active, you can look forward to a variety of outdoor activities: hiking along the Ilztal cycle path or the Goldsteig hiking trail, cycling through picturesque landscapes or canoeing on the wild and romantic rivers. It is especially beautiful here in spring and summer when nature is in full bloom.

And what do you do in Ringelai when the weather is bad? No problem: the surrounding area offers numerous indoor activities, such as a visit to the indoor swimming pool or a guided tour of the glass museum in Frauenau.

All in all, Ringelai is definitely worth a trip for all those who long for time out from everyday life while enjoying the beauty of nature. Whether as a family, couple or alone - this travel guide will show you everything you need to know about this enchanting place in the middle of the Bavarian Forest!
