Discover the region

Geographical location and special features: Rain is located in the Donau-Ries district in Bavaria, between Augsburg and Nuremberg. The town lies on the Romantic Road and the Lech-Donau-Winkel and thus offers numerous opportunities for excursions in the surrounding area. A special highlight is the nearby Harburg Castle, which is one of the largest castle complexes in southern Germany.

Tourist-relevant sights: There are many historic buildings to discover in Rain, such as the town hall or the St. Johannes Baptist parish church. The market square invites you to linger with its cosy cafés and the annual Christmas market also attracts many visitors every year.

Cultural highlights and events: Another cultural highlight of Rain is the annual Old Town Festival in summer, where you can sample regional specialities and listen to traditional music.

Culinary specialities: The region around Rain is known for its hearty cuisine with many regional specialities such as pork knuckle or Kaiserschmarrn. Beer lovers will also get their money's worth here - after all, Bavaria has a long brewing tradition!

Outdoor activities: For outdoor activities, hiking through the idyllic countryside or cycling tours along the Danube are the best options. In winter, you can ski in the nearby ski areas such as the Hahnenkamm.

Best Seasons and Places: The best time to visit Rain is in spring and summer, when nature awakens and it is pleasantly warm. Hikes through the Lech-Donau-Winkel nature reserve or trips to the surrounding lakes such as the Forggensee are particularly beautiful.

What to do in Rain when it rains? There are plenty of things to do even in bad weather: A guided tour of Rain's historic centre is a good idea, as is a visit to the local museum.

Conclusion: Rain has a lot to offer as a travel destination - from historical sights to culinary highlights and outdoor activities. Be sure to visit this charming town!

Sehr empfehlenswerte Tour!
