Discover the region

The geographical location of Oppenweiler is characterised by rolling hills and wide fields. The river Murr meanders through the region and invites you to take relaxing walks along its banks. The town's historic half-timbered houses and Oppenweiler Castle, which was built in the 16th century, are also particularly worth seeing.

Cultural highlights can also be discovered in Oppenweiler. The Museum für Zeitgeschichte (Museum of Contemporary History) is dedicated to the history of the Second World War and provides information about local events of this time period. The annual Arts & Crafts Festival also attracts many visitors.

If you want to get your culinary money's worth, you should definitely try the typical regional dishes: Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli) or Swabian Zwiebelrostbraten (roast onion) are just a few examples of local delights.

For outdoor activities, hiking or cycling tours through the surrounding nature are particularly suitable - especially in springtime when everything is in bloom or in autumn when the leaves turn colourful - but you can also enjoy fishing on the river banks here. For water sports enthusiasts, a canoe trip on the Murr is recommended.

If it should rain, a visit to the indoor swimming pool in Oppenweiler or a tour of the local shops is worthwhile.

It is especially nice in Oppenweiler in summer when you can visit the outdoor swimming pool and enjoy the sunset in the evening while sipping a glass of wine. But autumn with its colourful hues also has a very special charm.

Overall, Oppenweiler offers something for everyone as a travel destination - be it cultural discoveries, culinary delights or active recreation in the midst of a beautiful landscape. A travel guide for this region is definitely worthwhile!

Recht viel Asphalt.
