Tourist attractions include Ockenfels Castle as well as Engers Castle and Monrepos Castle nearby. The church of St. Martinus is also worth a visit - it dates back to the 12th century and has impressive architecture.

Cultural highlights include the annual wine festival in September or the numerous concerts and theatre performances as part of Neuwied's cultural programme.

The region's culinary specialities are mainly hearty dishes such as Pfälzer Saumagen or chicken breast fillet in Riesling sauce. But sweet treats like apple strudel or Zwetschgendatschi are also not to be missed!

Those who like to be active can enjoy hiking, cycling or canoeing on the Rhine here - it is especially beautiful in spring during the time of fruit blossom or in autumn during the grape harvest.

Even when the weather is bad, there is plenty to do: Museums such as the Roentgen Museum offer interesting insights into local history and the history of technology.

All in all, Ockenfels, Neuwied is definitely worth a visit and a perfect destination for anyone who loves nature, culture and good food. Find out more travel tips now with our Travel Guide!
