Maps and trails
Ochtrup is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Münster and is known for its beautiful landscape of forests, lakes and rivers. The town itself has a rich history as a trading centre for cloth and textiles. Today it offers a wealth of activities for tourists of all ages.

One of the most important sights is Surenburg Castle, an impressive baroque building with a long history. Today, it houses a hotel and restaurant complex as well as function rooms for weddings or conferences.

Another highlight is the Moorheide Nature Park with its many hiking and cycling trails through unspoilt natural areas. Here you can relax or be active: from canoeing on the Dortmund-Ems Canal to fishing at the Aasee, there are many opportunities for leisure activities.

Ochtrup also has a lot to offer culturally: The GBS cultural centre regularly presents exhibitions by local artists as well as concerts of various genres such as jazz or pop music.

For gourmets, the culinary specialities of the Münsterland are a must! Try the famous Westphalian bones and the beer from the regional brewery. The many restaurants in Ochtrup also serve international cuisine.

If it rains, a visit to the Museum of Textile Technology is a good idea. Here you can learn all about the history of the textile industry in Münsterland and marvel at machines from times gone by.

The most beautiful time to visit Ochtrup is from May to September. The forests are then full of life and provide a beautiful backdrop for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. In winter, you can skate on the ice rink at the Aasee or take a leisurely walk through the snow-covered landscape.

Overall, Ochtrup is definitely worth a trip! With its rich history, impressive natural areas and diverse leisure opportunities, this town has something for everyone - whether you're travelling alone or with family and friends!
