There are more than enough tourist attractions here. Visit Neubeuern Castle, which can look back on a long history and today serves as an art and cultural centre. Or stroll through the historic old town with its well-preserved half-timbered houses dating back to the 16th century.

If you are interested in cultural highlights, you should definitely take a look at the local museum or attend one of the numerous concerts or theatre performances.

Wir haben diese Runde direkt im Anschluss an Etappe 1 gemacht. Auch dieser Weg führt einen hauptsächlich durch Ortsgebiet, hat aber immer wieder landschaftliche und sogar etwas spannende Stellen zu bieten. Auch Kunst und Kultur findet man unterwegs regelmäßig. An sich ist die hier vorgeschlagene Richtung sehr empfehlenswert, da die schönsten Abschnitte dann auf der zweite Hälfte des Weges liegen. Allerdings ist die Beschilderung vor Ort genau andersherum angebracht und somit dann kaum hilfreich. Also entweder man nutzt regelmäßig das Smartphone um den Weiterweg zu finden, oder man macht die Runde doch andersherum. Außerdem ist die Wolfsschlucht "in den Wintermonaten" offiziell gesperrt. Was auch immer damit gemeint ist.

Es war ein schöner Spaziergang durch und bei Neubeuern, mit einer angenehmen Mischung aus Kunst, Kultur und Natur. "Im Winter" ist der Aussichtspunkt Haschlberg allerdings (offiziell) gesperrt. Wir haben die zweite Etappe des Schiffleutwanderweg gleich noch angehängt und somit die Streckenlänge zu einer kleinen Wanderung verdoppelt.

Der Pfarrer-Leo-Hochreiter-Weg ist an der Abzweigung zur Wolfsschlucht bis Ende November gesperrt. Ein Hinweis dazu hier in der Tour wäre hilfreich. Wir haben dann stattdessen den Rundweg durch die Wolfsschlucht gemacht sind danach mit dem Auto zum Parkplatz am Friedhof Altenbeuern gefahren. Von dort aus sind wir noch zum Mühlsteinbruch gewandert. Die Teile der Tour, die begehbar waren, waren jedenfalls sehr schön! Für die Wolfsschlucht kann man Wanderstöcke gut gebrauchen.

Das war eine interessante Runde, welche vor allem von den beschriebenen kulturellen Highlights bereichert wird. Ein paar Rätsel und Herausforderungen hat uns die vorgeschlagene Streckenführung bereitet. Es war nicht immer klar, was das eigentliche Ziel der verschiedenen Abstecher sein sollte. Außerdem ist die Wolfsschlucht, laut offizieller Beschilderung, "im Winter gesperrt". Allerdings ist nicht weiter erläutert welchen Zeitraum das genau betrifft. Weiterhin galt für den vorgeschlagene Weg zwischen Wolfsschlucht und dem Schloss Neubern ein Betretungsverbot wegen Privatgrund.
