Discover the region

Nerdlen is located on the edge of the Volcanic Eifel Nature Park and offers breathtaking landscapes with numerous hiking trails through forests and mountains. The region is known for its geological peculiarity: there are many extinct volcanic cones, crater lakes and lava flows to discover here.

Sights relevant to tourism include Manderscheid Castle from the 14th century and the Maarmuseum in Daun, which is dedicated to the history of the formation of the Eifel landscape. For those interested in culture, a visit to the Himmerod Monastery or the Maria Laach Abbey Church is also worthwhile.

A special highlight are the annual events such as the Manderscheid Castle Festival in summer or the Wine Festival in Bernkastel-Kues in autumn. Nerdlen also has a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights - be sure to try the regional specialities such as Döppekooche (potato pancakes) or Sauerbraten with dumplings.

For outdoor activities, spring to autumn is particularly suitable - hiking, cycling and canoeing are among the most popular activities here in Nerdlen. In winter, you can go skiing or cross-country skiing at the surrounding ski areas.

Even when it's raining, there's plenty to discover in Nerdlen - visit the Eifel Crime Museum, for example, or relax in the thermal baths in Bad Bertrich.

The most beautiful spot is hard to spot, however, because the landscape here is so varied and picturesque. But a walk through the woods or a bike ride along the rivers are definitely recommended!

Overall, Nerdlen is definitely worth a trip and our Travel Guide will help you explore all the highlights of this charming place in the Vulkaneifel district.
