Meißner

Meißner lies in the heart of Germany and is surrounded by picturesque nature. The region offers numerous hiking and cycling trails through forests, valleys and hills with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Water sports enthusiasts don't miss out here either: the nearby Werratalsee lake invites you to swim, sail or fish.

One of the most famous sights in Meißner is the 18th century Wilhelmsthal Castle. Here you can take a guided tour through the magnificent rooms of the castle or explore the extensive park. Another highlight is the Germerode Game Park with its impressive wildlife.

Culturally interested visitors should definitely visit Haydau Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries in Hessen with a fascinating history. The Witzenhausen local history museum also provides an interesting insight into local cultural history.

If it rains, we recommend a visit to the Aquapark adventure pool in Eschwege or the climbing park on the Hohe Meißner. A ride on the historic Werratalbahn is also an experience in any weather.

The best time to enjoy outdoor activities is in spring and summer. In autumn, it is worth visiting the numerous wine festivals in the region. In winter, skiing and tobogganing on the Hoher Meißner are great options.
