Mayen lies on the edge of the Eifel Mountains and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The town's location makes it an ideal starting point for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. In the summer months, you can enjoy nature at pleasant temperatures, while in winter the area turns into a snow paradise.

One of the tourist attractions is undoubtedly the 13th-century Genoveva Castle with its museum of prehistory and early history as well as the castle chapel of St. Clemens with its magnificent frescoes. The historic town hall from the 16th century is also worth a visit.

Culture enthusiasts should definitely visit the theatre at the castle, where performances take place regularly - from operas to musicals to concerts of all kinds.

For culinary gourmets, there are many options: Try local specialities such as "Hunsrück bacon" or enjoy typical German dishes in cosy restaurants around the market square.

If it rains, various indoor activities are on offer: For example, explore the Lava-Dome volcano museum or relax with a spa day at the Monte Mare Spa.

It is especially beautiful in Mayen during spring, when nature awakens and everything is green and in bloom. But autumn also has its charm with the colourful leaves on the trees.

So Mayen offers something for everyone - from cultural highlights to culinary specialities and outdoor activities. A travel guide for this city should not be missing in any collection!
