Today was the 5th stage of the Fällanden - Danube Cycle Route. The path led me almost constantly along the embankment paths next to the Danube.

Flat stage along the Lech mostly on gravel path. Always straight, therefore quite monotonous. Signage "Lech Radweg" not always in the right place.

The town lies on the course of the Danube and is surrounded by picturesque forests. The landscape here is simply spectacular - green hills, gentle valleys and the majestic Danube shape the image of this area.

Marxheim has several tourist attractions to offer. An absolute highlight is Leitheim Castle, which towers over the town on a hill. Here you can not only admire the impressive architecture but also take part in cultural events or enjoy a meal in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

For those interested in history, there are other exciting places to visit such as the Roman tower or the town church of St. Michael. The old town with its half-timbered houses also invites you to take a stroll. Culture enthusiasts also get their money's worth in Marxheim: The annual cultural festival "Schloß-Spiele" (Castle Games) attracts visitors from near and far and offers open-air theatre performances as well as concerts of various genres.

This region also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine! Be sure to try local specialities such as Maultaschen (filled pasta pockets) or Spätzle (a type of egg noodle).

For those who like to spend time outdoors, Marxheim is also a great place to get active. The area is perfect for hiking and cycling tours. Tours along the Danube or through the Altmühltal Nature Park are particularly beautiful.

And what to do in bad weather? A visit to the nearby thermal spa "Therme Erding" offers pure relaxation!

Summarising: Marxheim is definitely worth a trip! With its unique combination of history, culture and nature, it has something to offer for everyone. Follow our guide and experience this charming little town for yourself!

Sehr empfehlenswerte Tour!
