Tolle Runde, landschaftlich sehr schön. Bis auf die Abschnitte auf den Bundesstraßen waren wir an einem Samstag bei tollem Wetter ziemlich allein unterwegs. Zum Rasen sind die Straßen im übrigen völlig ungeeignet, da oftmals ziemlich schmal mit Gegenverkehr, für unsere Vespa aber prima. Wenn man Zeit genug einplant sollte man sich die Maare anschauen. Teilweise ist Baden erlaubt. Wir mochten das Pulvermaar. An der Ahr gibt es auch viele nette Örtchen zum Verweilen. Allen voran natürlich Ahrweiler und Altenahr. Auch den Nürgburgring könnte man näher erkunden. Alles in allem hat die Runde uns super gefallen. Dankeschön.

Wunderbare Wegführung, super Ausschilderung, was für eine Landschaft! So schön! Aber die Schotter-Abschnitte nerven, besonders bergab. Selbst mit Mountainbike ständiges Ge-Eiere, und mit schmaleren Reifen natürlich umso mehr. (Dann lieber Matsch.) Sind von Gunderath bis Monreal und zurück, da fand ich die Rücktour „bergauf“ deutlich angenehmer. Am Weg viele schöne Stellen (Hüttchen, Bänke, Spielplätze, Info-Tafeln, Brücken). Und Monreal ist natürlich eine Perle. Hoffentlich geschieht ein Wunder (Zeit? Regen? Matsch? Schwere Fahrzeuge?Beton? Asphalt?), dass die losen Steinchen irgendwie festgehalten werden, diese Schotterungswut auf Wander- und Rad-Wegen nimmt wirklich überhand…

Bei fast sommerlichen Temperaturen starten wir unsere Tour in Mayen. Wir fahren die Strecke hin und zurück, so dass wir auf ca. 60 km bei ca. 600 hm kommen. Die Radtour ist einfach nur wunderschön!!! Man fährt überwiegend auf feinem Schotter, aber auch auf Asphalt und Feldwegen, es gibt viele Rastmöglichkeiten für Pausen, Idylle pur! Eines der Highlights ist natürlich das Fachwerkörtchen Monreal, wo wir uns zum Ende hin einen Cappuccino gönnen. Die Markierungen sind sichtbar gut vorhanden, man muss allerdings wissen, dass man dem grünen Pfeil folgt, lediglich bei mehreren möglichen Abzweigungen ist das Logo des Elztal-Radweges angebracht. Die Tour wird als "mittel" beschrieben. Das mag für E-Bikes gelten. Wir Beide (60+) fahren noch klassisch, und das Hügelchen zwischen Monreal und Mayen ist nicht ohne, gerade am Schluss, wenn die Beine schon etwas müde sind. Juhu, denn gut geschafft! Bitte bei der Planung beachten! Fazit: Ein toller Weg, der nach Wiederholung schreit. Leider, leider liegen schon traurigerweise der erste Müll und Zigarettenkippen an den Rastmöglichkeiten. Was sind das nur für Menschen?!?!
