Lauenförde is known above all for its picturesque location on the Weser. The town is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and anglers as well as hiking and cycling enthusiasts. A special highlight are the numerous 16th century half-timbered houses that characterise the old town.

Holzminden, on the other hand, is often referred to as the "city of fragrance" - the world's largest centre for essential oils and aroma production is located here. Holzminden also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine: Here you can enjoy regional specialities such as the famous "Hameln-Pyrmont asparagus" or the delicious apple wine.

If it rains, there are also a few options for leisure activities in Lauenförde: for example, visit the local history museum with an exhibition about the history of the town or relax with a wellness day in the nearby spa area.

For nature lovers, an excursion to the Solling-Vogler Nature Park is a must - here you can expect untouched forests, clear streams as well as magnificent views of the surrounding landscape. In summer, a day of swimming at the Beverungen lido or a canoe trip on the Weser is the perfect way to cool off.

Another highlight is the annual Weserlieder Festival in August, which attracts visitors from all over the world. Here you can dance outdoors to live music and enjoy the unique atmosphere.

Overall, Lauenförde and Holzminden are definitely worth a visit - whether for a weekend trip or as a starting point for further exploration in the region. With this travel guide, you now have all the important information at hand to plan your stay in the best possible way.
