The town belongs to the Altes Land region on the Elbe and is known for its numerous orchards as well as the historic centre with beautiful half-timbered houses.

Tourist attractions: An absolute highlight in Kranenburg is Agathenburg Castle. This baroque complex impresses with an elegant façade and today houses a museum of modern art. The 13th-century St. Cosmae Church should also be on your list - here you can embark on a journey through different eras.

For music lovers, there is also the annual jazz festival in the summer as well as classical concerts in the church.

Culinary specialities: The Alte Land is especially known for its delicious apples and pears, but other regional specialities such as kale or Labskaus should definitely be tried! You can also enjoy fresh fish in many restaurants, after all Kranenburg is located in the immediate vicinity of the Elbe.

Outdoor activities: The best season to explore the nature around Kranenburg is spring. Then numerous fruit trees are in bloom and there are many opportunities for hiking or cycling tours along the river. In winter you can have fun on the ice rinks in the village or go for a sleigh ride.
