Geographically, Kottenheim lies on the edge of the Eifel Mountains and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The region is known for its volcanic Eifel with its impressive maars - crater lakes that were formed thousands of years ago by volcanic activity.

Cultural highlights abound here: visit the historic Bürresheim Castle or walk in the footsteps of the Celts in the Belginum Archaeology Park. A trip to Eltz Castle is also definitely worthwhile!

For outdoor activities, there are numerous possibilities such as hiking, mountain biking and canoeing on the Moselle River. In winter, cross-country skiers can explore the snow-covered forests.

Kottenheim also has much to offer in the way of culinary delights: Try local specialities such as Döppekooche (a type of potato pancake) or enjoy a wine from the nearby Moselle region.

If it rains, we recommend a visit to the volcano park in Plaidt or a tour of the stalactite cave "Bärenhöhle" near Ernzen.

And where is it most beautiful? Clearly on a sunny day looking over the valley from the vantage point "Lonniger-Höhe".

All in all, Kottenheim is a destination that is definitely worth a trip. With this travel guide, you have all the information you need to enjoy your stay to the fullest!

Wochenend-Etappen in drei Jahren.
