Discover the region

Geographically, Johannesberg is located in the federal state of Bavaria and is surrounded by picturesque hills and forests. The town itself is located on a hill overlooking the valley of the Main River. The region is particularly well known for its vineyards and excellent winegrowing.

As a tourist, you should definitely visit the historic old town, which impresses with its 17th century half-timbered houses. Here you will also find Johannisburg Castle, which once served as the residence of the archbishops of Mainz and today houses an impressive collection of works of art.

Cultural highlights abound in Johannesberg: The annual wine festival attracts numerous visitors every year and offers a perfect opportunity to sample local specialities as well as experience traditional dances. The music festival "Johannesberger Sommer" also attracts artists from all over the world every year.

When it comes to culinary delights, this region is the place to be! Be sure to try the regional asparagus or enjoy a hearty roast pork with dumplings - typical food of Bavarian cuisine!

For outdoor activities, take a hike through the nearby mountains or a bike ride along the Main River - especially beautiful in spring or autumn, when the landscape is in its full glory. If it rains, you can head to the local museum or enjoy a wine tasting at one of the many wineries.

Was will man mehr....
