Situated on the banks of the Saar River, Irsch offers a picturesque backdrop of green forests and rolling hills. The region is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers, especially during the spring or summer months from May to August.

One of Irsch's main attractions is the impressive 18th century St. John's Church, considered one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Rhineland-Palatinate. For those interested in culture, the visitor centre "Erlebnisraum Römerstraße" and the museum at the Porta Nigra in Trier are also recommended - just a few kilometres away.

For culinary discoveries, there are numerous options here: From traditional wine taverns to cosy cafés and gourmet restaurants, you will find everything your heart desires. Be sure to try the famous vintner's sparkling wine from our region!

If it rains, you can take a trip to the nearby Eifelpark amusement park or spend a relaxing day in a thermal spring.

The best time to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling are the months from April to October - especially in autumn our landscape shows its colourful side! Popular places for this are the Saar-Hunsrück Climb or the dream loops "Irscher Hochwaldpfad" and "Kasteler Felsenpfad".

All in all, Irsch, Trier-Saarburg is a destination that is definitely worth a trip. This Travel Guide provides you with all the necessary information for an unforgettable stay in our region!

Sehr schöne ruhige Gegend ohne viel Touristik.

Did this tour in April on a nice sunny day. For navigation I only used my phone with the map on this page, no GPS. This works fine but you have to stop 500 times in total of course. There is nothing technically difficult in the route, but yes there is some serious climbing. I rode it on a hardtail with eagle 1*12 (34/10-50). The route takes appr. 5,5 hours I would say for a fit person, breaks not included. I think its best to ride the tour when its dry, since otherwise it may be challenging and you might get quite a few flats of all the sharp little stones that come up when its wet. In total you maybe have to walk 50 meters at some stairs, apart from that everything is rideable. Limited refuel stations available, I did it with one bidon and that was not quite enough, defenitely in summer you need to refill when possible. Great route and I would recommend it to anyone who is fit but does not look for spectacular descends and other technical stuff.
