The town lies directly on the edge of the Swabian Alb biosphere area, making it a perfect starting point for hikes and other outdoor activities.

Tourist attractions: An absolute highlight in Hohenstein is Lichtenstein Castle - also known as the "fairytale castle". The building was built in the 19th century in neo-Gothic style and impresses every visitor with its towers, oriels and battlements. Another must-see are the castle ruins of Hohenneuffen, Teck or Achalm as well as the monastery courtyard of Bebenhausen.

Cultural Highlights & Events: For those interested in culture, there are numerous options in Hohenstein: for example, visit the Alte Post Museum or take a guided tour of the historic old town. In summer, concerts are held regularly on the market square - a wonderful place to linger!

Culinary specialities: Swabian cuisine has many delicacies to offer. Be sure to try the regional specialities such as Maultaschen, Spätzle and Käsespätzle as well as the famous Zwetschgenkuchen.

Outdoor activities: The Swabian Alb offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities - from hiking and mountain biking to climbing and paragliding. Hikes through the romantic Lautertal valley or along the Alb ridge in autumn are particularly recommended.

Rain days in Hohenstein: There is plenty to do in Hohenstein even when the weather is bad: visit the thermal baths in Beuren, for example, or take a guided tour of the "Hohler Fels" stalactite cave.

Where is it most beautiful? One of the most beautiful places in Hohenstein is undoubtedly the Schlossberg with its breathtaking view of Lichtenstein Castle and the surrounding landscape. Another insider tip is the "Raichberg" lookout point, from which you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view.
