Hohenfurch is a small village located about 15 kilometres south of Landsberg am Lech. The community is surrounded by wooded hills, lush meadows and idyllic lakes, which makes for a dreamlike setting. Here you will find peace and quiet, but you can also make cultural discoveries. Bavarian hospitality and delicious regional cuisine round off the experience.
Those who appreciate visiting historic churches and castles will love Hohenfurch: Schloss Hohenfurch, the imposing castle of the Weckherlin family from the seventeenth century, is a particular highlight. The impressive decoration and architecture of the parish church of St. Michael from 1728 is also a must-see. To admire the beauty of the region, be sure to take a hike or bike ride. The pilgrimage church Maria-Hilf is another highlight and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape.
In addition, you can enjoy numerous outdoor activities in Hohenfurch. The Lech cycle path, a famous long-distance cycle route, runs not far from the village. The famous Way of St. James also crosses the region. A canoe trip on the nearby Lech river allows you to experience nature from a different perspective.
Not to be missed are the traditional festivals and events that take place throughout the year. Whether it's the Easter bonfire, the castle festival or the Christmas market, this is where you come into contact with the warm-hearted locals and can experience Bavarian culture at first hand.
Where is it most beautiful in Hohenfurch? That's hard to say, because every corner of the village hides other beauties. But the view of the castle from one of the surrounding hills is particularly spectacular. If you arrive in spring, you can admire the lush green landscape, while in winter you can enjoy the fairytale snow cover.
Why should you holiday in Hohenfurch? If you want to escape the hustle and bustle and noise of the city and instead seek peace and relaxation in a dreamlike natural setting, you will find a little paradise here. Cultural highlights and the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities make Hohenfurch a destination worth visiting.
This trip is definitely worthwhile and an experience not to be missed. I hope my Travel Guide will help you plan your perfect trip to Hohenfurch.
